Paint Care Guide

Your fresh paint is an investment. Follow these guidelines to protect the finish and keep it looking factory-new for years.

The Cure Window

How Long Until It\'s Fully Cured?

Automotive paint doesn\'t reach full hardness the moment it\'s dry. It continues to cure for about 30 days. Treat the repaired area gently during this window for the best long-term result.

First 24 hours

Handle with care

The clear coat is still soft. Avoid touching the painted area, and don't drive if possible. Keep the vehicle dry and sheltered.

Days 2–7

Light use only

Normal driving is fine, but avoid automatic car washes, pressure washing, and parking under sap or bird-drop zones.

30 days

Fully cured

The paint has reached full hardness. You can resume all normal washing, waxing, and care routines.

Washing Tips

Do\'s & Don\'ts

Hand wash with a soft microfiber mitt and pH-neutral car soap
Automatic car washes with brushes — they scratch fresh clear coat
Rinse thoroughly from top to bottom before washing
Pressure washers held closer than 12 inches to the painted surface
Dry with a clean microfiber towel to prevent water spots
Wiping the painted area dry with a dirty rag or t-shirt
Wait 30 days before applying wax or sealant
Waxing, sealing, or ceramic-coating before the 30-day cure window
Park in shade or a garage when possible
Parking under trees (sap), near sprinklers (minerals), or in industrial fallout zones
Blot bird droppings with a wet microfiber, then gently wipe
Letting bird droppings, bugs, or sap sit — they etch fresh clear coat fast
Wax & Sealant

Wax Recommendations

Wait 30 Days

Fresh paint needs a full cure cycle before any wax, sealant, or coating is applied. Applying too early traps solvents and can cause dulling or bubbling.

Use a Quality Wax

After 30 days, apply a high-quality carnauba or synthetic sealant. Spray waxes are fine for quick touch-ups between full applications.

Reapply Every 3 Months

For daily drivers, reapply wax or sealant every 3 months to keep the clear coat protected from UV, road grime, and contaminants.

Weather

Weather & Environment

Sun & Heat

Avoid parking in direct sun during the first week whenever possible. Extreme heat slows proper curing and can soften fresh clear coat.

Cold & Frost

Frost and ice won't harm cured paint, but avoid scraping ice off a freshly painted panel for the first 30 days — use lukewarm water instead.

Rain & Water

Light rain in the first 24 hours is okay, but avoid heavy downpours. Don't wash the vehicle for at least 7 days after the repair.

Your 30-Day Warranty

Every paint repair is backed by a 30-day warranty on paint adhesion and color match. If you notice any issue with the repair within that window, call us and we\'ll come back and fix it at no charge. Proper aftercare helps ensure your finish lasts well beyond the warranty period.
